What is JOAT Studio?

JOAT Studio, or Jack of all Trade Studios is the creative workspace of Rachelle Clark & Shawn Christopher. Each has a very distinct creative style. Rachelle is a Photographer, jewelry designer, and all around crafty lady. Shawn is a painter, sculptor, an amazing 3D mind for combining both paint and recycled materials. Rachelle and Shawn came together as a couple, as artists, and in many other ways years ago, and they continue to walk this creative world together.

Rachelle Clark

Biography
Rachelle Clark was born in Alaska, and spent time in both Alaska and Alabama as a child. She moved to Washington state, and then finally came to call Oregon her home. The culmination of so many contrasting cultures, attitudes, traditions, and dialects has shaped her own views and memories into a unique collage.

Rachelle’s use of antique windows as frames suggests the nostalgic interior of the photographs’ composition. The subject matter of her images feature common objects or slices of everyday life, each of which triggered remembrances and stories for the artist. Rachelle’s intention with her work is to conjure memories and feelings within the viewer that are uniquely their own.

Shawn Christopher

Biography
“Abstract is a way of thinking.”

Shawn’s creativity is rooted in Pure Instinct.
As a self-taught painter, Shawn has developed his own style; a love of color tempered with form, and a fascination with how it all fits together in the end.
His creative process is freeform, defying explanation — he lets the brush take him where it will. Shawn starts with color and feeling rather than subject — creating depth and balance without shading or blending, allowing the simplest line to reveal beauty and form.
